Merge duplicate customers
The Merge duplicate customers feature lets you combine multiple customer records for the same person into one profile. Taimli detects likely duplicates on the Customers page and shows them as a merge group you can resolve with a single click.
When duplicates appear
Duplicate merge groups appear automatically in the customer list when Taimli detects records that share the same contact details or a very similar name. You do not need to search for duplicates manually.
How to merge duplicate customers
Open Admin > Customers.
Look for a merge group row in the list. It shows the duplicate records and a merge button.
Click the merge button. Taimli selects the best surviving record automatically and merges the duplicates into it.
The list refreshes and the duplicate records disappear.
What gets preserved
Taimli keeps the surviving customer record and updates it with any missing information from the duplicates. The following data is preserved or merged:
Contact details — email, phone number, birthday, and locale are copied from the duplicate only if the surviving record does not already have them.
Appointments — all past and future bookings move to the surviving record.
Notes and photos — all customer notes and note attachments move to the surviving record.
Waitlist entries — any waitlist entries move to the surviving record.
Gift cards — gift card associations move to the surviving record.
Marketing consent — the latest email or SMS marketing consent state is kept, along with its audit timestamp and source.
Blocked status — if the duplicate was blocked from online booking, the surviving record inherits the blocked status.
Trusted booking info — if the duplicate had verified online-booking contact details, those are copied to the surviving record.
Rebooking notifications — the latest rebooking notification marker is preserved.
Important limitations
The merge is not reversible. The duplicate customer records are deleted after the merge.
Merge requires the customer merge permission. If you are not authorized, you will see the message You are not authorized to merge these customers.
If one of the records has been deleted since the page loaded, you will see One of these customers no longer exists.
You cannot merge a customer into itself. If you try, you will see Cannot merge a customer into itself.
Merging is handled as a single transaction. If any part of the merge fails, the entire operation is cancelled and no records are changed.
