Set up and sell products
You can keep a catalog of the retail products you sell and add them to bookings alongside services. Taimli tracks stock, includes product charges in booking totals, appointment emails, and invoices, and reports product sales and margins in Insights.
Create a product
Products are the retail items staff can pick when charging a booking. You create and edit them on the Products page.
Open Products from the salon admin sidebar.
Select Add product.
Enter the product Name and selling Price. Both are required.
Optionally add a Brand and, if you have access to cost information, a cost price.
Optionally enter Units in stock to set the starting stock, or leave it empty and count stock later.
Save the product. Active products are immediately available in the booking product picker.
Track stock
The Products page shows each product's stock in the In stock column. A product whose stock you have never recorded shows Not tracked.
Open Products from the sidebar.
Select Stock on the product's row. A panel opens showing the current amount.
Choose Receive stock to add units, or Count stock to replace the count with what is actually on the shelf. Counting shelf units also starts stock tracking for a product that was previously untracked.
Enter the number of units and an optional note.
Select Save.
When a booking with a catalog product is saved, the available stock on the Products page goes down by the quantity sold. Selling more than you have on record is allowed: the stock simply shows a negative number. If a booking is canceled or marked as a no-show, its catalog products go back into stock.
Add products to a booking
From a booking, staff can add an active catalog product or a one-off item that is not in the catalog. The charge is added to the amount the customer owes.
Open the booking from the Calendar.
In the booking's Add menu, select Add product.
Choose an active catalog product or One-off item.
Enter the Price, the Quantity (a whole number from 1 to 999), and an optional Discount between 0 and 100 percent. The quantity is applied before the discount.
Save the booking. The updated total is shown in the booking details and at checkout.
The product charge appears on the customer's booking page, in confirmation, reminder, and rescheduling emails, and on invoices. Quantities above one are shown as the product name with the quantity, for example Argan oil x 2.
Discount codes and birthday discounts apply to services only. They do not reduce product lines added to a booking.
You can edit or remove a product line afterwards. Product changes cannot be saved after an invoice has been sent, or when they would reduce the booking below amounts already paid.
Archive and restore products
Archiving removes a product from the booking picker without deleting it. Open the Archived tab on the Products page to see archived products, and select Restore to make one bookable again.
Editing or archiving a product does not change bookings that already include it. The name and price on each booking line are copied when the product is added, so past bookings and invoices keep the details from the time of sale.
See product sales in Insights
The Insights page has a Product sales section listing the products sold in the selected period. It shows each product's units, revenue, cost, and margin, plus a row for one-off items and a total row. The margin appears as an amount with the percentage in parentheses.
Cost and margin information is limited to staff with Insights access. Owners and admins see it by default; a worker sees it when the Insights permission is granted to them. Without that access, staff can still sell products and see their prices, but the Product sales section does not appear for them.
See Insights and Statistics for the rest of the Insights page.
